Parking in Vienna
In the inner districts of Vienna, you have to pay for street parking between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. These are the so-called Kurzparkzone, which means parking is allowed for a short period of time only (maximum 2 hours). These inner districts are districts 1-9, and district 20. Parking tickets for the Kurzparkzone can be purchased at Tabaks, metro stations and vending machines. From 10 p.m. to 9 a.m., parking is free of charge, unless otherwise indicated in special places. Around Stadthalle in the 15th district, you have to pay for parking from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. because of the numerous events, except for July and August.
Cheap P+R Parking Places in Vienna
If you want to park your car in a cheap parking place, we recommend you to use the P+R. For example, you can use the P+R garage at the Erdberg U3 metro station, with a daily fee of 3 EURO. With the metro, you can get to the center in less than 5 minutes.
City Center Parking Houses
There are several parking houses in the city center of Vienna, with daily parking fees of around 30 EURO. The rate for 1 hour is usually 3 EURO. Many hotels in the center have a contract with one of the nearby parking houses, thus being able to offer a considerable discount for hotel guests (discounts up to 50%).
The garages usually have a standard height of 2,1 meters, with the exception of a few that offer even more space.
Parking at Vienna Hotels
Always ask your accommodation provider in advance about parking places. If there is no garage at your hotel/pension/apartment, ask them if they can provide you with a special street parking permit (around 5-8 EURO/day). If the hotel is located in the Kurzparkzone, you will probably be able to pick-up a special 10-minute parking ticket at the reception which allows you to stop in front of the hotel until you unload your luggage.
Recommended Hotels with Parking
If you want to be in the center of Vienna, stay at Pension Continental, which is located in the middle of the famous Mariahilfer Strasse. The pension has a contract with the Gerngross Parking House (50 meters) across the corner, and you can leave your car in the garage for a discount daily fee of 15 EURO (normal rate is 25 EURO). During the months of January and February, it is often even reduced further down to 10 EURO/day. Pension Bosch is located in the third district, and you can purchase a special parking permit for 4,6 EURO/day, or a garage place for 10 EURO/day.
