The city of Salzburg with its historical city centre became the part of the UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. It was the culture, which had a significant influence on Salzburg and it also marked the image of the city. There are numerous medieval, romantic, renaissance, baroque and buildings as well as from the epoch of the monarchy. There is hardly any epoch, from which you can not find architectural relieves in Salzburg. The city is famous for its baroque architecture (it was the residence of the bishops) and attachment to music. The main sights of the city: the cathedral, St. Peter cloister, the Castle of Hohensalzburg, the Mozart Square, the Episcopal Residence and the Mirabell Palace and Garden.
