Description: The Carlton Opera Hotel is located in a quiet one-way street in the center of Vienna (4th district - Wieden), a few steps from the busy city center. Our elegant Art-Nouveau style hotel is a great choice if you want to discover the shopping promenades, Kärntnerstraße, Mariahilferstraße, Karlsplatz and the Naschmarkt market. From our hotel, you can get to the Vienna Opera and the famous St. Stephens Cathedral in a few minutes on foot.
This area of Vienna has attracted numerous artists, like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who conducted the "Magic Flute" in the Freihaus Theater. Emanuel Schikaneder, librettist of this opera, has later founded "Theater an der Wien". In addition, artists like Antonio Vivaldi, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms and Hugo Wolf resided and composed in the Wieden district. The Freihaus no longer exists, but the area still offers lots of inspiration through art galleries, theaters and independent cinemas like Schikanederkino and Filmcasino. The Vienna Technical University is located nearby, and as a result, there is a lot of student nightlife with great pubs and clubs.
All of our rooms are air-conditioned, and they feature cable-TV, telephone, mini-bar, safe, bathroom, toilet, hairdryer and coffee- and tea-making facilities. We also have suites (apartments) and family rooms, with kitchenette (washing-machine, dish-washer). Some of the apartments have a terrace.
Free wireless W-Lan access is available in all public areas of Hotel Carlton Opera and in the hotel rooms as well. The room rate includes local taxes and breakfast.
We have our own fitness studio with cardio- and strength-machines, and a sauna. If you are looking for even more, we can offer you the nearby John Harris Fitness Center, for a reduced daily fee of 15 EURO for our guests. For passionate runners, we recommend the nearby park of the Baroque Belvedere Palace.
About Hotel Carlton Opera
We have a free Internet Hot-spot in the hotel lobby. Our colleagues will always be at your disposal to arrange tickets for social and cultural events, tickets for Vienna Sightseeing Tours, etc. If you are coming by airplane to Vienna, we can arrange a taxi transfer from the Schwechat-VIE airport to Carlton Opera Hotel. If your flight lands at the Bratislava Airport, take a look at this page to book your transfer between Bratislava Airport and Vienna city Center.
On weekdays, all inner districts of Vienna are so-called "Kurzparkzone", which means that parking is limited on the streets between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Nevertheless, we can provide you a special hotel parking card which would allow you to park your car on the street for a daily discount rate of 8 EURO. If you need a garage place instead, we can arrange you one in a nearby garage (just around the corner, at Kühnplatz) for 18 EURO/day. On the weekend, and during the night, parking is free of charge on the streets.
Driving Instructions From A1 highway: follow the signs to Vienna Center (Zentrum), keep going straight along Wientalstraße, Hackinger Kai, Hietzinger Kai, Schönbrunner Schloßstraße and Schönbrunner Straße. As you drive along Schönbrunner Straße, Rechte Wienzeile will fork off to the left, and you should follow this sign. Go straight for about 1200 meters, when just before the center, Schikanedergasse goes off to the right. Right at this corner, you will see the sign "Hotel Carlton Opera". Since our hotel is in a one-way street, take a turn around the block and turn left onto Mühlgasse, the turn right onto Schleifmühlgasse, then turn right onto Margaretenstraße, and right again onto Schikanedergasse. Our hotel will be about 50 meters from the corner.
From A2 highway: follow the signs to the center (Zentrum) along the Triester Straße until you get to Matzleinsdorfer Platz (about 4 kilometers). After the railroad tracks you pass under, drive straight on Reinprechtsdorfer Straße for about 1300 meters until you get to Schönbrunner Straße. Turn right onto Schönbrunner Straße, then take a left turn at the second cross onto Rechte Wienzeile. From here, follow the instructions above (for A1 motorway).
From A4 highway: coming from the direction of Budapest, follow the signs to the center (Zentrum) along the Danube Channel (Donau Canal) until you get to the Aspern Bridge (about 9 kilometers). You will pass by the Urania observatory as you cross the bridge, and continue straight onto the Ring. Drive straight along Stubenring, Parkring, Schubertring, and Kärntner Ring. When you get to the Vienna State Opera, follow the Operngasse which goes off to the left, cross the Karlsplatz, but not straight ahead into the Friedrichstraße, rather follow the curve a few meters to the left and then make a right turn to into the street that is still the Operngasse. From here, the third intersection on you right will be Schikanedergasse.
